Sometimes you write things because they reflect your research interests. Sometimes you write things because it’s a burning issue you feel you need to discuss. And sometimes, you write things because you know you’ll get a kick out of the challenge of doing so… this was me last spring when I decided to learn a bit more about philosophy in a response to a CFP on Doctor Who and Philosophy. It has vague connections with my research and teaching interests, but more than that it was a bit of fun and an interesting exercise. Anyway, the resulting article, ‘What the World Needs… is a Doctor’ talks about whether or not The Doctor is a Christ-like figure and it can be found in the book Doctor Who and Philosophy, which comes out in December.
Whatever else I publish from now on, my CV’s always going to have a bit of geekery on it – and that’s fine by me.
