Summer Heights High
Chris Lilley’s masterpiece was one of the most talked about shows of the year. Following Jam’ie, Mr G and Jonah in a term at fictional school Summer Heights High, the comedy used real people in most of the other roles to great effect. Probably the most quotable show of the year:
I also wonder if SHH influenced part of one of the other best shows of the year, and one I forgot about until now, so I’m including it here anyway:
Britain’s Got the Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar On Ice
Like The Bitch Factor or lowculture made telly, Peter Kay spectacularly sent up the X Factor with a nigh on perfect attention to detail. Simon Cowell was not amused. The rest of us were.
An aside: I totally want Chris Lilley and Peter Kay to team up for some sort of one-off project. How ace would that be?
Hot Chip – Ready For the Floor
As with their previous album, this was the one awesome song that got all the airplay. The rest of Made in the Dark is fine, but this song is a definite scene-stealer.
